I’m currently reading La moda justa by Marta D. Riezu.
I haven’t finished it yet, but I already felt the need to talk about it. Some books don’t require being completed to know they will stay with you. This is one of them.
It’s not a book that tells you what to do or tries to impose rules. It feels more like an honest conversation about how we dress, why we do it, and what that says about the way we live. It talks about consumption, yes, but even more about time, culture, responsibility, and coherence.
One of the things I’m enjoying most is how it dismantles the idea that fashion is superficial. On the contrary, it places it as a language, a form of expression, a reflection of our values. What we wear, how we buy it, and how long it stays in our wardrobe says much more about us than we often think.
Reading this book at the beginning of 2026 feels especially meaningful. Not as a list of resolutions, but as a moment to pause and reflect. Not about doing everything “right”, but about choosing better. About asking ourselves whether a garment makes sense, whether it has a life beyond one season, whether it truly belongs with us.
I also want to say how much I admire Marta D. Riezu as a writer. Her sensitivity, clarity and depth are remarkable. If you haven’t read Agua y jabón, I can’t recommend it enough. It’s delicate, thoughtful and deeply human. A beautiful reflection on care, beauty and everyday gestures.
At Laguillot, these ideas are very present. Working made-to-order, offering an atelier service, producing without excess or rush is not a statement for the sake of it, it’s simply a natural way of understanding fashion and creative work. Doing less, but doing it better. Creating pieces that are meant to be worn, lived in, and kept.
Starting 2026 reading La moda justa feels like a quiet invitation: to live and dress with more intention, more awareness, and more coherence. Not to be perfect, just to be a little more honest.
I’ll keep reading. And I know I’ll come back to this book more than once.

Estoy leyendo La moda justa de Marta D. Riezu.
Todavía no lo he terminado, pero tenía muchas ganas de hablar de él igualmente. Hay libros que no necesitan ser acabados para saber que van a quedarse contigo un tiempo. Este es uno de ellos.
No es un libro que te diga lo que tienes que hacer, ni que te señale con el dedo. Es más bien una invitación a pensar la moda desde otro lugar: con calma, con criterio y con una mirada mucho más amplia de lo habitual. Habla de consumo, sí, pero sobre todo habla de tiempo, cultura, responsabilidad y coherencia.
Una de las ideas que más me está resonando es cómo desmonta la creencia de que la moda es algo superficial. Al contrario, la presenta como un lenguaje, una forma de estar en el mundo. Lo que vestimos, cómo lo compramos y cuánto dura en nuestro armario dice mucho más de nosotros de lo que creemos.
Leerlo ahora, al empezar 2026, me parece especialmente pertinente. No como propósito, sino como reflexión. No se trata de hacerlo todo perfecto, ni de comprar menos por sistema, sino de elegir mejor. De preguntarnos si una prenda tiene sentido, recorrido y verdad.
También quería añadir que Marta D. Riezu me parece una escritora maravillosa. Si no habéis leído Agua y jabón, os lo recomiendo muchísimo. Es un libro delicado, inteligente y profundamente humano, que habla del cuidado, de la belleza y de los pequeños gestos cotidianos desde un lugar muy honesto.
En Laguillot estas reflexiones están muy presentes. Trabajar bajo pedido, hacer piezas a medida en nuestro atelier y producir sin exceso ni prisas no es una postura radical, sino una forma natural de entender la moda y el trabajo creativo. Hacer menos, pero hacerlo mejor. Crear prendas que acompañen y que tengan vida más allá de una temporada.
Empezar 2026 leyendo La moda justa es, para mí, una invitación a vestir y vivir de forma más consciente y alineada con cómo queremos estar en el mundo. No para hacerlo todo perfecto, sino para hacerlo un poco más coherente.
Seguiré leyendo. Y sé que volveré a este libro más de una vez.
